...over the breakdown of communication between US and Canadian forces leading to this tragedy.
The PPCLI are the only Canadian military regiment to receive a US Presidential Citation [Harry Truman: 1951] but not the first Canadian Army unit to be bombed by US aircraft. That dubious distinction goes to the 3'rd Canadian Army Division in Normandy in WWII when it was accidently bombed by USAAF bombers at Caen, France in July/1944.
