Modern warfare
Actually, we should be thanking our lucky stars that our modern skills in warfighting have progressed to the point where ten to twenty Allied deaths in a campaign is considered a shocking casualty level. Our forefathers in WWI and WWII would have given anything to trade their ghastly casualty levels--friendly fire or not--for ours.
Our precision attack capabilities have gone a long way to reducing non-combatant casualties in enemy territory as well. I hope the massive civilian deaths of WWII or even Viet Nam will remain a thing of the past, although some harm inflicted is unavoidable (even blowing up power plants without loss of life causes civilian hardships, however tactically necessary).
