I don't know of any of those guys.

"U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan had named Martti Ahtisaari, a former president of Finland, to lead the team, which also included Cornelio Sommaruga, former president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Sadako Ogata, the former U.N. high commissioner for refugees."

<The "bleeding heart" team was rejected.>

They may be as radically anti-Israeli as they come, for all I know. I would have to agree they might be “bleeding hearts”.

The Finns seem reasonable, but what do they know about invading anything except Russia. And, they’re European. The head of the Red Cross would have been vetted, but by definition may be a “bleeding heart”. After all, it’s the Red Cross, and they assist victims of disasters. A person familiar with refugee problems and "camps" seems reasonable, too, but may be, by definition, sympathetic to human beings.

Military experience doesn’t seem all that necessary. Bulldozing homes isn’t the usual military tactic. Can’t be done if there’s resistance. Not really a military issue, I wouldn't think.

But who else? I would think Milosevic has most of the qualifications the Israelis want, but he's in jail. Not Jewish, either. Saddam is Muslim, as is Qadaffi, they won’t do.

This could be tough. There seems to be a shortage of Jewish war criminals with military experience. I guess I'll have to agree with you. We’ll take Sharon’s word for it as maybe the only person on Earth qualified.

Too bad. It would have been nice to hear that the Israelis didn't commit war crimes from someone other than the Israelis or GWB.
