I wonder.
Would Israeli interests like to see a near-unilateral action by the US against Saddam? Especially if it didn't ignite into a much larger war?
Publius' apparent interest in that got me to thinkin', and I now both have an idea and a headache.
If the US did act unilaterally against Iraq, at a minimum the Muslim world would regard it harshly and the US could expect a backlash.
Would that drive the US more into the Israeli sphere, if possible? Is it possible the Israelis would like to see the US in a war which was interpreted by the Muslims as the US against Muslims?
I have to confess it makes some sense to me. That doesn't mean it makes sense on any grand scale, though.
