Well, as I've gotten older yellow seems to gravitate to me. Yellow shorts (brown in back, though), yellow teeth, yellow back. And, of course, my hero, Old Yeller, who was named for his color, not voice.

There are parts of that situation which just don't make sense to me. And, I'd like to at least understand the reasoning, even if I don't agree. (I don't agree with Sharon, and yet I think I can understand the reasoning.)

Do I think the little monkey has the hubris? I just don't know. I can imagine he may get into a room, lock the door against Powell, and sit around in some sort of circle with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, and Rice with Blair on a conference call and talk themselves into anything. Believe their own BS, sort of like we did in basic. Or they may not.

So, I say, says I, maybe the rumors of a troop buildup are a bluff of some sort, a message which can't be sent any other way. A bit subtle for Bush, but not beyond Rove. To whom is the message sent? I dunno.

And the Saudis seem to be on the brink of a revolt against US influence, largely because of a perceived anti-Muslim bias. (Ungrateful wretches that they are!) Would they allow themselves to be used to stage an attack against a Muslim country, no matter how politically different they are?

Or would the US troops be on their soil ostensibly to attack Saddam but really to prevent a Saudi defection? Could that be the real reason?

Nixon wanted to foster the "madman" image with the North Vietnamese in order to enhance his bargaining position. Didn't work, I suspect partly because he WAS a madman, and the North Vietnamese were in it for the duration no matter what anyone did. Is Bush trying to foster a "madman" image for some reason?

Probably not. Most folks already know he's quite a few electrons short of having a voltage, and he doesn't have to pretend to be a madman. The world already knows he's about dumb enough to try anything.

It's just boggling my mind. I think I'll go lick myself for a while.
