<U.S. eyes military attack on Iraq next year: NY Times

It would seem the only reason for the US to attack Iraq is that Saddam is a bad guy and he eluded GHWB.

There seems to be no evidence Iraq supported the Taliban or Al-Qaedda.

The excuse that he has used WMD against the Kurds seems a bit weak. Is it in the US best interests to go after all people who have been bad guys in the past? Does the US identify strongly with the Kurds? Of course not.

Well, he hasn’t lived up to UN resolutions. Neither has Israel. Well, he has WMD. So does Israel. Will we go to war over UN resolutions? Should American kids unilaterally die for UN resolutions? Since when?

Well, he could use poisonous gas against the US. A lot of bad guys have poison gas. Are we willing to go after every bad guy with poison gas? We'll run out of willing kids before we get through them all.

What's left is GWHBs pride. I don’t know that it’s worth any Americans dying to satisfy GHWB. Should American kids die, American parents weep, American children do without parents, for GHWBs pride? Should Americans spend billions and billions of dollars to satisfy GWHBs pride? Maybe he'd settle for a Shuttle ride instead.

There seem to be no other valid reason to go to war. Unless, it’s oil.

Oil, and the presidential father’s pride. OK, maybe that makes sense. It has to - it's all we've got.
