Okay, maybe my point got lost, given the two total non-sequitors below:

<Ataturk, whatever his faults, was instrumental in taking a Muslim nation and modernizing it into what is probably the closest thing to a secular Muslim nation currently in existence. He died in 1938. The Armenian genocide took place in 1915. It was perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire. Ataturk crushed the Ottoman dynasty and created the Republic of Turkey in 1923. And yes, many of the Turks and Armenians still are pissed at each other, but I believe it's been a while since they've been killing each other on a routine basis. And yes, modern Turkey is no saint as far as human rights go (ask the Kurds) but it's a damn sight further along than the non-secular Muslim nations.
