Guantanamo and Cuba

Probably a good idea, but a terrible march, or walk.

Since neither party wants to be visited by the other, there is open territory, cacti, fences and more mines than anyone could count between Guantanamo and the rest of Cuba. Trying to go overland, either way, would take the Chinese Army marching for 10 years, and they'd lose about the first 9 years, 11 months of them. (Hyperbole. I don't know exactly, because I don't know how many of the Chinese army are infantry, how many abreast they'd march 'em, how many of the first 1,000,000 they'd have to shoot to get them to move out, and so on.)

You could parachute 'em, in a version of the old interrogation method, or maybe a catapult. Once there they couldn't get back.

By the way, the US leases Guantanamo. You know what the lease costs?

$2,000 per year in gold. Castro has only accepted it once, the rest of it is in escrow.

And when is the lease up?

When both parties agree, or the US abandons the area.

I thought that was interesting.
