<A look at the map of settlements in the occupied territory might seem that it’s the Israelis who are trying to eliminate the Palestinians.
And there’s a point to this one?
The focus of any war is to eliminate the enemy, as thoroughly as possible. So long as Palestinian aggression continues AGAINST any viable form of peace, Palestine’s days remain numbered. It is they who must take the next initiative, but so long as Arafat remains at the bottleneck of negotiation, peace will remain a fantasy, a fairytale told in schools around the world.
The steps Israel has taken toward the elimination of Palestine are, for the most part, rational, as well as just.
The steps Palestine has taken toward the elimination of Israel are, for the most part, irrational, unjust, but understood. It is a last-ditch effort by a paranoid, ill-educated, radical people to stave off what they see to be the annihilation of a nation -- which, without international support, will happen anyway.
Peace in the Middle East?
No. Not until Arafat leaves the throne, and the supporter of the Hamas become intelligent.
Let me know when those two things happen,
Dan
