Since 911, big govt (with the noted exception of the military -separate topic) has given us federal employees at airline terminals strip-searching the elderly and delaying air traffic, a color-coded warning scheme, an INS that mindlessly issues visa to known, dead terrorists and little else. In contrast, on 911 Americans acting with their brains in gear during a crisis within minutes overpowered hijackers on FLT 93 thwarting their attack, reacted quickly and grounded all air traffic without beurecratic committee meetings and took numerous heroic and appropriate steps on site at the WTC.

The pre-911 failure of intelligence organizations to sift thru the beurecratic govt maze in contrast to the rapid reaction of Americans ON 911 once they had informatin on the stiuation stands in marked contrast. We need to re-organize our intelligence systems and eliminate the layers of secrecy and paralysis by analysis.
