This does make me nervous, though. I recall another famous quote, much more prescient, attributed to another religious radical: "Give me a boy when he is seven, and I will give you the man." --Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. This quote has become a dictum of the Jesuit order, one of the most politically influential and intellectually shrewd religious orders in the history of organized religion. We can laugh at the Saudis' empty houses of worship. Are the Wahhabi schools just as empty?

I'm looking for an active countervaling Western educational and economic influence in the area, not simply a withdrawal and a sigh of relief that it's all over for a while. Bread and books now will countervale a need for more bombs and bullets later.
