In the Cold War we spent much wasted time negotiating with ourselves.
It seems that in the Pal/Israeli impasse, carreer diplomats are spending vast amounts of itme doing nothing.
Unless Sharon offers a positive vision for the Pals, his negotiations will be as fruitful as talking to walls.
The Pals have already demonstrated their willingness to die for Yassar. Does he seriously think that a person likely perceived as a puppet will be credible to such dedication?
Ever since 911, the Israelis have pursued a crazy policy of linkage.
Because of their political leverage, it was basically irresistable.
But that does not make it right.
