Again.

"Sounds good to me too. The Israelis probably saved millions of lives (including their own) when they took out the Iraqi nuclear capability years ago. Predictably, the usual chattering idiots spat on them for it."

The israelis did good. I recently re-read my book on it, written not long after the event. And, they HIT THE TARGET, and they killed only one innocent person. (I think I posted something congratulating them on it. That was almost exactly 20 years ago.)

We of the US have been taking out more than that at a wedding celebration, not a nuclear facility.

What's the goal for the "preemptive strike" policy?

Are all WMD going to be used against the US? Even by our enemies? Did the USSR? Has China? Do some people, like Israel, have WMD to ensure that they will survive, not for offensive purposes?

Do you think the nukes these countries have can be "hit"? Or might they be stored where they either can't be found, or struck?

And then what happens? If you miss getting all WMD in a preemptive strike? Is it not fair for that country to strike back with anything and everything they have hidden? Forever? I mean, if you don't declare war you can't declare peace. Will the remaining weapons be smuggled into the country and detonated? Why not?

I proposed the "Bowser Doctrine" on these boards once. It was to tell nations that if the US was struck by a weapon of mass destruction, and it could have come from a country known to have that type weapon, we'd destroy that countries capacity to do almost anything.

You know what you conservatives were saying? That the US was a great country for which the phrase "innocent before being proven guilty" meant something. Took the moral high road. But, Bush proposed something even more Draconian, and your leader has spoken. (Dittoheads.)

The problem with preemptive strikes is that it invites first use and justifies retalliation forever.

I would rather see the US didn't get hit. I know that's radical. Preemptive strikes invite a hit, before and after the strike.

Some people seem to like the idea of war, though. I'd rather not have it happen to anyone. Anyone. No one should go through war. It's not a Rambo movie. Everyone loses. It is a no win situation.

And just because someone doesn't like you doesn't mean you get to kill 'em.

I wish the goal was to see that America doesn't get hit. I'm afraid the goal is to guarantee it does get hit.
