"How many innocent civilians died as an UNINTENDED consequence of US military action to destroy the Taliban and Al Queda??
Which number is really, really big and which number is much, much smaller??"
And how dead are they?
Even though through March more Afghani innocent civilians were killed than Americans died in WTC, and the ROW sees innocent civilians as innocent civilians, there are people who think that’s just fine. They were living under a repressive regime. (Hint about morality – they were “living” – they aren’t living now.)
They get used to it. Just give ‘em a few goodies. Seems to be the prevailing morality of this board.
There’s the numbers. 3,000 to 3,400 innocent people dead through March, 2002. That was 4 months ago. Now, how dead do you suppose these people are? Do you think their families loved them? Do you think they liked living? Did they want to see their kids grow up, or if they were kids do you think they wanted to grow up? To have a chance for life? Maybe?
And, in the old days, the Afghani president was guarded by Afghani guards, not American Special Forces (there for a 2 month rotation? Two months??). What does that say to rational people? Go ask one, maybe your neighbor, maybe the clerk at the store.
