Still driving you nuts, isn't it?

I keep asking myself the same question. How does he keep missing it? I attribute it to several things.

One, not having lived long enough to see governments do the same things the same way over and over. For instance, there has to be a little war between now and the November elections to keep the economy going and GWB popular. That's driving the rhetoric.

Second, I suspect you haven't been in the position where you watched the government sell out you and the finest people you've ever know, over and over and over, for insignificant political egos and money. And used high-flown rhetoric about democracy, free enterprise and the American way of life while doing it.

When that trust is shattered, you question what they do. And when you see it happen again, you calls 'em as you sees 'em.

You couldn't maintain that hate of Muslims rationally. It takes trust of the system, or at least the right-wing part of the system. When you don't trust the system, you look at the realities behind the rhetoric, the dynamics driving the decisions.

And I don't have that trust, anymore. Did once, in spades. Was just as loud about it then as you. And they don't deserve it. None of them. It's always about money. (And in this case, Daddy's pride.) They spend lives like dollar bills. Jones in "The Thin Red Line" says it best.

Arf (Do you think the Rs will run GWB in 2004 if there isn't a Big War?)
