What would happen if everyone--not just those who are self-employed--were required to actually write a big, fat check each quarter for their taxes instead of having it painlessly drawn from their accounts while they sleep?
I tell you what would happen--the people would march on Washington, burn it to the ground, and plow the ashes under. And the government knows it, too.
