There's no "cover story" to the article. There's always some cover. Here's an example.

It said its soldiers had been warned that four Palestinians would attempt an attack in the area and opened fire when they saw the men. The four were killed near the settlement’s vineyard, settlers and Palestinian witnesses said.

The army has a cover story. I don't know what happened. However, in the article TB cited, there's no "cover" story, just torture and an execution.

That will play only to people who want to believe the worst, not to people caring about what may, or may not, have happened.
