IF there is a bias, maybe it has something to do with the journalists being bright, literate, articulate and very familiar with the issues. Or, bias might be built into the conservatives view of the world.

Might have more to do with truth, facts and fairness as seen by folks who see the entire world than prejudice.

IF, that is, there is a prejudice.

The only two prejudices I see are in the coverage of Israel, where the US press has been censored by Israelis for 50 years, and in the Fox network, where Brit Hume has a snottiness with all the force, charm and reason of me at my worst (and that, admittedly, ain't good).

I think, too, that conservatives do NOT want all sides of an issue covered, regard it as heresy. For instance, to the right-wing in general teaching about safe sex is tantamount to telling kids to go out and screw.

To many right-wingers evolution should not be taught at all.

A communist teaching Marxist theory is regarded as heresy (as if anyone could teach it better). If capitalism is that much better, there should be no threat from teaching communism.

Conservatives regard teaching about Islam in schools as wrong, even though the US seems to be at war with much of the Islamic world.

I think a liberal would regard it as an asset to know and understand others, most especially if it is an enemy.

Pointing out that the other guy has a reason for thinking the way he does seems to be regarded as treason by conservatives. For instance, my trying to point out that the Palestinians have some very real complaints about the way they have been treated by the Israelis has led to me being accused of promoting the killing of Israeli civilians.

I guess it's true that if one wants to look at the world as being black and white, then anything which points to gray is considered biased.

Maybe that's why conservatives distrust anything but their own press, because there is very little which is black or white - except maybe killing and maiming innocent people, WHICH IS WRONG NO MATTER WHO DOES IT OR WHY! After every precaution has been taken it might be understandable, AND IT'S STILL WRONG!
