Regretable, might be understandable.

<Iraq rejects unlimited inspections

In the past the Iraqis have wanted to include in negotiations that would seem to be legitimate concern to them. For instance, they would like to know how lifting of the UN economic sanctions ties in with inspections.

The US has refused to discuss this meaningfully. Iraq has taken the position that if there is no lifting of sanctions in sight, if lifting of sanctions cannot be tied in with inspections, there is no reason for them to allow inspections.

Not completely unreasonable. (And they didn’t throw out the inspectors. The US ordered them to leave.)

The US position has been that after the inspections are over then the sanctions can be discussed. Not lifted. Discussed.

What I’m kind of curious about is why conservatives think the UN resolutions re Iraq are sacrosanct, etched in stone, MUST be followed, need to be enforced with arms if necessary, AND the UN resolutions re Israel are such garbage and need to be ignored. Because the UN sucks.

Is that hypocrisy, or just plain conservatism? Not all hypocricy is conservative, I know, but is all conservatism is hypocricy? That's up for grabs. May not be, dunno.

Gotta go. P-mail we call it, there’s a lot of information there. And that's all true, p doesn't lie. Well, urine doesn't lie.
