Interesting article.
I wonder how European self hatred leads to a single currency. What is self hatred, after all? Isn't Europe composed of a multitude of cultures, languages, moods and the wars of the past were encouraged by nationalistic feelings as well as prejudice towards the other cultures?
About the jews facing antisemitism in Europe, I'm wondering about the integration issues.
An example: the Normans.
They came from Scandinavia, to the Seine and other parts of what is now France and attacked villages, behaved ruthlessly but stayed. After a short while they got completely integrated, to the point there are hardly NO traces of their original roots. The integration was in fact such that when they invaded England, they took the french language to the island. The Normans integrated themselves to the places wherever they went.
After WWII, the French shook hands with the Germans and decided to be constructive and the process goes on, seducing more and more countries. That's european self-hatred?
The problem is that there are many many more tyrants than just Saddam. Algeria is in deep trouble but no way is another country gping to interfere with it. Zimbabwe is in trouble too, etc... Why Iraq and only Iraq?
