Oh I saw that travesty of charging her $50,000 for "manufacturing evidence". However, I seriously doubt whether she did.
Courts are often the scene of miscarriages of justice. Especially in high money stakes games like the Potter fortunes and residuals are at stake. Stouffer had no chance in Hades to win.
OJ was let off the hook too. ;-)
I have often seen the high-power attorneys fraternize with the judges like old pals....they know each other on a first name basis. I wouldn't want my case to be determined by and settled over lunch by old "friends".
Our court system is better than most - but is by no means infallible.
However - how would you feel if someone knocked off your "Bad American" retort - changed a few of the lines added some stuff from other things and added there name? Then it becomes a smash lyric and makes 100s of millions. You say its yours but you can't afford the attorneys to fight the case in the top tier level. We act as witnesses - but they claim Robert doctored up this site to put old dates on posts!
In Rowling's case she not only ripped off Stouffer but also Kiki which was later remade by Disney as Kiki's Delivery Service)
Odds are - the woman's a plagiarist. However she's probably an equal opportunity ripoff artist and ripped off 3 or more authors to come up with her story.
She's not the first - and wont be the last one either.
;-)
Good Morning Mary Anne!
