Oh, sorta like the US ambassador to Iraq on the eve of Saddam's invasion of Kuwait under Bush Sr.?

She was just delivering the message and reporting the answer too.

Or maybe the German situation is seen that way in Washington because that's the way the DeeCeeds would have done it.
