I think we pay much more than the monthly debt
Deficits don't scare me at all.
Deficits which stifle growth do.
Even though we ran huge deficits in the 1980's, we had enough pro-growth policies to allow real growth to occur at a dizzying pace.
Taht was continued through the 90, more or less.
We reaped a huge benefit and now we have a recession to help rebalance things. If we were to balance the budget right now, it would have the net effect of squashing the economy's future, imho.
