I think Jimmy Carter is a great man and certainly deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the right man to be President after the office had been dishonored by Nixon. Carter was certainly not one of our best presidents. I'd give him a "B-" (to calibrate, I'd give Franklin D. Rosevelt an "A+", Lincoln an "A", Woodrow Wilson a "B+" and Harding a "D-").
Carter was really too moral a man to be an effective president. An effective president must be prepared to kill hundreds of people to save thousands and then lie about it. Also Carter had issues with delegating authority. I voted for Carter in both elections. However I have to confess that voting for him that last time was difficult but unavoidable (his opponent was Reagan). Carter really made a mess out of the Iran thing. He could not comprehend full blown evil even when it was staring him in the face, e.g. the Iranian Islamic fundamentalists.
