Better destroy that hard drive...
Not saving them will just make the feds seize the hard drive and send it to Bethseda or Arlington for a recovery of what the computer "forgets".
Not saving things is not as good as shredding, since the imprint in the hard drive remains unless written over. You would be surprised at how much recoverable material exists lurking in even a hard drive that has been wiped clean and reformatted.
Oh and I couldn't help but wondering if your post title was referring to you...or to me - or to both of us?
