I was thinking of Prague's spring in 1968 and what happened in Hungary in 1956.

If the United States had decided to stay home, and say to hell with Europe after WWII, you would now be a Soviet citizen. Politically unpleasant, maybe, but true..

I've always heard I'd be speaking german, like in all the other conquered countries.
