What would happen...
... if the US (and Canada and other Western countries) went all-out and developed nuclear power to it's full potential? (including a switch to electric and hydrogen or other fuel cells to power vehicles) Would our internal oil supplies then be enough to meet domestic needs (for lubricants, plastics, the few internal combustion engines still required, some heating, etc)? And if so, what would happen to the Middle East, if that market dried up? Ie oil was no longer of strategic importance?
(I know, I'm dreaming, nuclear will never be accepted by the uneducated masses)
