A lot of natural gas has some very useful very light liquid components that are useful in plastics and polymers.
Also, a lot of plastics are easily recyclable.
A high nuke power economy, supplemented with natural gas, could very likely cut our oil dependance greatly if not entirely.
And the improvement in air and water quality would be massive.
