If Clinton had gotten everything he wanted, we'd be wallowing in the mire of socialized medicine right now.
As Larry points out below, the Republican's balls pretty much fell right off after the "shutdown" fiasco, which had been deliberately engineered by Clinton and his crew and discussed beforehand with the government employees unions.
The media screamed about the shutdown as though the Earth's core had imploded, and the damage was done. Republicans were never quite the same again.
