While superficially it seems that Muslims are safer in a Muslim country, I contest that. Muslims are safer here than in most any Muslim country. Were a Muslim to speak out strongly and vociferously as I've wished against the extremist tide in SA, Pakistan or Palestine, that person risks much. I do agree that Indonesia is one of the more tolerant Muslim communities. But their pols had prior to the resort bombing been fearful of inciting radical Islamics despite repeated warnings from the US ambassador of impending terrorist activity. This story hit close to home in the Aussie press.
