Only shows just how devoid of humanity they are.
Dying in a plane wreck is one of the worst things I can think of. Small planes are quite dangerous, and the last days of a campaign are very stressful and distracting.
The pilots they seem to often get are frequently partisan volunteers, donating their services...and may be less than the best.
Politicians are used to telling people to do things NOW. You mix those factors with the inherrant hazards of flying and tragedies do occur.
