Splinx seems to think that big mobs of Europeans protesting in favor of political correctness actually means something. I had an earlier exchange with him on this same topic and it was like communicating in different languages.
SDAI-Tech1's quote "auf Deutsch" made me smile:
>"Es ist Freitag. Sie müssen Schweinefleisch protestieren."

>(It is Friday - they must be protesting pork.)
In a former life, I lived in Goettingen, Germany (a major university town). The students there would demonstrate against the most amazing things. One year they had 100,000 students marching the streets protesting the high cost of student housing (unfortunately there was some violence). Their university costs were paid for by the state (it's considered a national right, like freedom of speech. I was standing on the sidewalk watching the protestors march by. Standing next to me were two of my classmates from German language courses at the Volks Hoche Schule (as a guest worker, I had to pay for my language lessons). My classmates were Iranian refugees who had fled their homeland to avoid participation in Khomeni's war against Sadaam Hussein. One of my classmates was a young boy who would have been used for mine clearing. His task would have been to march out into a mine field should-to-shoulder with other unarmed boys to set off the mines. Older men carrying arms would follow afterwards in human wave assault formations. This was "good tactics" because the boys required no training for their military task. I remember the boy being quite amused by the German demonstration. He commented to me that the German students had too much time on their hands.
