Re: Another crank's point of view, I see . . .

Reporters making news.

Funny.

The United States posed no potential threat to either the sovereignty of Japan, or against any neighboring country. The United States was actually at peace, providing logistical support against the war in Europe.

Iraq is a proven threat to the sovereignty of any nation within its reach -- provided the United States, Great Britain, and the United Nations decide to allow Hussein to run rampant, as he had before.

The article shows a pitifully narrow view for Ms. Thomas, with no correlation to the real-world of today. It might be considered a good thing that she is a former UPI reporter and not a current UPI reporter -- but it really wouldn’t make any difference.

Thomas didn't let the press off the hook, though. "Everybody learned the lessons of Vietnam, including the Pentagon. In Vietnam, correspondents could go anywhere - just hop on a helicopter and report on the war. Now we don't have that access. It's total secrecy. The media overlords should be complaining about this. I do not absolve the press. We've rolled over and played dead, too," she said.

And to paraphrase Walter Cronkite, it was the media who ended the Vietnam War, and the media who killed so many of our own soldiers through both misinformation, and factual reporting. I like having the legal spies standing outside the arena for a change.

Sensationalizing journalists are only in it for money and notoriety anyway -- in that order,
Dan (or were you expecting a different kind of review from a snubbed Democrat?)
