You have to look at who commissioned the study and why. What were they trying to show? Where was their bias?
3000 worldwide is not a large number but if I remember right, you don't need large number if it is a truly random sample of the population.
Was it an Internet survey? A phone survey? By house number? Randomly selected schools?
On the other hand, did they poll the kids that hangout at the mall?
