<"in an unnecessary, unjustified, illegal and degrading search of a 22-year-old United States citizen of Pakistani descent"
unnecessary is subjective..all searches are subjective.
Searches are not illegal - I get searched, my camera equipment gets searched and if I set off the metal detector I get searched again.
Degrading is also subjective. Searches are safety precautions not tools of humiliation. I don't feel degraded by being searched - in fact, I get scared when they don't pay attention to me and wave me through.
The ACLU needs to get a life. That is if they didn't put her up to it in the first place. "Look around furtively in your hijab, refuse to remove it and get hassled - we'll sue em for the big bucks!"
The folks on the 4 flights that never landed would love to have the luxury to whine about enduring "degrading" searches.
Security officers are not required to respect religious beliefs - if you want to fly you have to endure and accept whatever regulations the company maintains.
If you're Muslim and you know other Muslims are psycho-killer-losers who have killed thousands by flying on planes and they ask you to remove your hijab - you remove it. You don't make a big scene. You want someone to fly you somewhere - you obey the rules.
She brought the strip search on by her own refusal to cooperate. I commend the national guardsmen and the security personnel for their job - I am sure I would have done the same and perhaps even barred her from the flight as soon as she refused to cooperate.
Yes she's photogenic - that just makes her more suspect. Suicide bombers are now young girls too.
Instead of whining with the ACLU she should be telling her fellow Muslims what a$$es they are to have brought down the wrath of a nation on those who practice their barbaric religion. But that would make to much sense.
Heck FDR would have rounded them all up in internment camps and sent them all packing.
Watch this one get thrown out of court faster than a European Muslim can pull a switchblade.
Cry me a river....Mary Anne and sing me some more verses of the "oppressed victim" song.
The ACLU are just a bunch of sleazy lawyers...
