Swiss institute brands latest bin Laden tape a fake

Frankly, the Swiss research institute and its scientists sound highly credible.

I must admit I was a bit puzzled by the seemingly snap conclusion by certain US government officials that the voice was that of Osama bin Laden. How could they tell, with certitude, that quickly? On the other hand it does appear that the Dalle Molle Institute did their homework carefully and only after extensive research did they announce their (negative) conclusion.

It may help to keep in mind that the CIA and other US intelligence organs have a rather spotty record and are far from infallible. Remember a few years ago when US intelligence was embarrassed by Indian and Pakistani nuclear tests (had no clue about them)?

Also, it just didn't make sense that an egomanical and charismatic leader like OBL would completely shut up and disappear for an entire year, then suddenly start speaking out again.

So OBL is dead after all. Probably. Hopefully. Cross our fingers.
