As for the Irish, you can't even begin putting them in the same boat as the other groups you stated. The Irish played a major role in the Revolutionary War. Over 30 generals in Washington's army were of Irish descent, as was over a third of the enlisted solders. The designer of the White House was also Irish born. So I think that puts them significantly higher up than the later immigrant groups that you mentioned.
As for me putting my European heritage above my country, it's better than putting a make believe god ahead of it like many others do. Countries come and go, but groups endure.
