Don't forget the Korean War

Don't forget the "Forgotten War". North Korea invaded the South and killed lots of people. Atrocity against civilians and prisoners of war was standard practice. The U.S. under the United Nations, counter-invaded North Korea and almost conquered it. Then the Red Chinese got involved. There was the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir where the United States got its ass thoroughly kicked by the Chinese (Peoples Liberation Army). The 8th U.S. Army paniced and disgraced itself in one of the longest retreats in American history (left behind their wounded and dead). An entire regiment(?) of Turkish infantry was killed near the Chosin Reservoir (the Turks are tough soldiers and almost never give up). The USMC was able to fight their way out in an orderly retreat and did not leave behind their dead. My father had the misfortune of being drafted into the USMC because the Marines were dying faster than volunteer replacements. Almost all of his boot camp buddies died in Korea. My father survived because he knew how to type and was given an office assignment (At my father's insistence, my brother and I were taught typing at an early age).

Korea is a very nasty place to fight an infantry war. If we have to fight the Koreans again (not recommended), then we should use everything we've got and turn the place into a smoking crater.
