Indeed

I didn't want to write a book in my response. Yes, indeed, we shouldn't forget the "Forgotten War."

My Uncle, Paul Miller, was a medic. He was captured along with his battalion surgeon in December of 1950, the same day as when his eldest daughter was born. Several years ago, NBC News did a "Profiles in Courage" segment featuring Uncle Paul and the Surgeon, along with a Marine Corsair pilot who saved their lives. When their position was overran, they were about to be summarily executed. The Marine pilot saw what was happening and began straffing around their position. The surgeon had the presence of mind to tell his captor, "You see that plane up there? He's a friend of mine. If you kill us, he'll drop napalm on you." They survived 22 months of hellish POW treatment. The doctor and the pilot met accidentally after the war. Needless to say, they're very good friends, and it wouldn't be smart to say something bad about Marines in front of my uncle. MSNBC had a link to the story for a couple years but it's gone now. I wish I knew how to find it in the Internet archives.

Uncle Paul almost never talks about his Korean War experiences. In all my life, he's only talked about it once. It was spooky - looking at him as he described a human wave assault, you could tell he was seeing it all in his mind again. That was 25 years ago and he's never spoken about it since. The first time I heard the story of his capture was on NBC News.
