I repeat: Democrats in power never share it.

<When the last Senate was 50/50, the Dems asked for a 50/50 split and were rebuffed completely.

Now THIS is bullshit. Aside from Cheney's vote making it 51/50, Trent Lott and the Republicans shared out committee posts, money, etc. Rebuffed? The Republicans practically rolled onto their backs and widdled all over themselves.

When the Senate became 50/49/1, the Republicans and Dems got together and agreed on a 50/50 split.

Actually, with Cheney, it was 50/50/1. Not a Democratic majority according to the power sharing agreement. Nevertheless, the Democrats took control, dumped the power sharing agreement in violation of its terms, and shut the entire Republican program down.

Now, the Republicans have a solid majority again. Is there any reason on Earth they should cut the Democrats any slack at all, other than the threatened blackmail?

I stand by my statement that the Democrats, when they are in control, never share power.

The last time the Democrats were barely in control by one seat or so was back in the 1950s, and it might be instructive to see how much power sharing went on then.
