Re: Why do countries oppose war?

Hi Raoul,

And thanks for that perspective from afar.
I doubt you'll have anyone agree with you over here, except for me and few other leaning-to-the-lefters. I find it amazing that most Americans can't see this. They're so hopped up on the media hype, they can't think for themselves anymore. They've come to believe that they're in great danger and only the likes of the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfelt and Ashcroft will save them.
I wonder what our American armies overseas think.
Are any of them having second doubts?
Would they rather be home with their families?
After all, they're not DEFENDING the United States but ready to agressively punish any one who they THINK may be of harm to us....somewhere on down the road. Just let the Commander-in-Chief give the order. And to think Congress gave in to GWB, lest they be brandished as "un-American" or "unpatriotic".
Oh....people are afraid allright. They seem to be afraid of everything.

I have talked to many of my brethren, some are for it. Some are against it.
The ones that are for it....are limited, in my opinion.
Although there may a good reason to get rid of Huseein, it would be like going in for ONE hornet, in a hornet's nest, which is the Middle East. And seeing how other super-powers have vested interests in the Middle East, and seeing how you have millions of Islamics and Muslims living worldwide, you are looking into a real problem of backlash with hatred and uprisings EVERYWHERE.

It's not a "war" with Iraq, that I fear, but what will follow.
Of course, Bush and Co. have no contingency plan for this because NO-ONE can tell how it will all go.
What if Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Russia step in to defy us?

We have no right to go in and make a "regime change", then put in our assets to take out theirs.
The cry of giving them "democracy", is a great all-American sound byte, BUT.......as I have tried to illustrate, these people don't think like us, act like us, or even need to be Americanized by OUR form of "demockracy".

And you, you will be closer to the action than I will.
In this country, they are not covering much of the dissenting points of view, or the protests for that matter. No, 24/7 here we have War! War! War!
Our media (the major networks) are all bought and paid for.
And people these days, they just "get it" yet.
I hope that this war can be averted, because I myself don't believe in Armageddon, but born-again Christians like GWB and Ashcroft DO............
