the Prez is a straight-shooter
and apparently the Europeans have some trouble with that. Given the bloody, disasterous nature of European history (including the very recent), I don't think the US has any lessons to learn about peace and diplomacy from the continent. European history is a catalog of terrible mistakes, callous scheming and absurd miscalculations--a long, sad trend which apparently continues to this day.
