Being half German and having read Der Spiegel, countless Zeitungs and keeping abreast of French and British publications - I can say with CERTAINTY - Europe has an EXTREME love/hate relationship with the US. This is not overnight hatred. It is a long-standing deepseated resentment that has existed since WWII.

Britain and France detest becoming the weak old relations, while America became a superpower of unlimited magnitude. Germany has secretly resented the American presence and earlier defeat, and now find a mouthpiece for blatant anti-Americanism in Schroeder much in the same manner as anti-semitism found a champion with Hitler.

The French hate nearly everyone (including themselves), the Americans, the Turks, The Germans, The British, etc. The only time they go out of their way to welcome someone is when a Russian leader comes to town. This has its roots in deep economic profits from Tsars purchasing French munitions and the triple alliance of France, Russia and Britain uniting against Germany - the old world superpower.

The europeans have almost slavishly worshipped the US fashions and trends. American smokes and levis jeans have been a staple for Euro youth for the past 25 years. As these youths get older they still don't live like Americans do - and they resent this.

Many generations of EURO kids now have grown up with their illusions shattered. Levis and smokes AREN'T THE BIG AMERICAN secret to superpower living - our CONSTITUTION and natural lands ARE the secret.

So they reject America - like a dream they once had that has faded. Like a short, homely girl realizing for the first time she wont EVER be homecoming queen.

This is the source that fuels the new manifestation of euro-wide anti-Americanism. That it parallels anti-semitism and the jealousy of well-to-do jews should be a warning as to what is coming: Euro dictators preaching anti-Americanism and anti-semitism gospel to a new generation.

EUROs smoke so much they are killing their forests. They have never learned the value of genuine American gregarious and friendliness to strangers and neighbors which makes for a happier society. Everyone in europe is frowning most of the time - SERIOUSLY! That is their problem!
