"Well, calling them terrorists was debated before september 11th- some news agencies thought that term was a biased one... sorry but if you are a halfway decent civilized human being then you call these subhuman animals "terrorists"!"
yes, they are and I don't claim otherwise. They all need a good long killing.
RL:
"yes terrorism is bad, but you have to understand where they are coming from..." I say bullshit! "
We are under no moral obligation to understand them. If one person breaks into my house- I shoot them dead and call the cops, and I don't ask him why he did what he did. If people keep breaking into my house day after day- well its smart to find out why they are doing it and if I can make it stop, cause I might miss the next one, or he might get lucky and shoot me first. So, no moral obligation- but simple tactical cleverness tells us to eliminate it at the root.
"So, in short there is NO moral relativism possible here... These terrorists are very much "evil". "
Agreed, but make sure you and everyone else understands that I am not advocating moral relativism nor moral obligation. As a Philosopher, moral relativism and relativism in general is anathema to me. In fact, morality has little to do with this situation. I'm in it for the survival of America, the wealth of my children and the continued supremacy of America and American ideals. I am about as cut-throat as it gets in this matter, and if the best way for me to get what I want for my country is to smile, hand them bread and a book- then fine, I'll do it just as readily as shooting people.
". We may not always be the "good guys" but even at our worst we are infinitely better than these creatures."
Yep. This is true.
"Our greatest sin that led to this situation is that we are civilized and free... oh and we also dont treat our women as animals..."
There is a grain of truth to this, but it is also true that we support those who brutalize their people all accross the mideast- The Shah, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi and Kuaiti Princes. The madrasses make sure thats ALL the poeple know about what we do. That we hand out the guns that shoot the people. They don't show them how much of the food in thier bellies comes from US largess and US farms. We are not exactly the bad guys and not exactly the good guys (and that fact does not and should not excuse the actions of the terrorists OR their popular support)
There are reasons we went from heroes to villains in the mid-east. these reasons are not, IMHO, all our fault or moral responsibility- we were just asleap at the wheel and willing to bend a few laws of decency to get what we wanted in the short-run. We have no moral obligations to address these reasons. So yeah- Kill ALL Terrorists while we fix the real problem. If we're lucky, in 20 years, we will have killed all the terrorists and fixed the reasons why they were there in the first place.
I want survival and continued global effectiveness, not revenge.... Though if revenge can be had on the way and is either in service of or at least not in contradiction to my goals (probably not gonna happen)- then thats the sweet whipped cream of life.
