The only reason France is on the Security Council at all...
is that people felt sorry for how badly they lost during WWII. At the time, they were recovering from their defeat but were still a colonial power. It's kind of like how Israel was formed following the Holocaust. Today, France is no more than an average country on the world stage. Face it, there are a lot more countries that are deserving of being a permanent member on the Security Council, such as India, the world's largest democracy.
