In WWII, we were the one being attacked. And it was Germany that declared war on us to uphold their pact with Japan.
We were the target and the object of an invading force.
This is what generated our moral imperative and was a motivation for unity.
When we attack Iraq we become the aggressor and we generate world wide disunity.
We will survive this, Iraq will survive it, and the world will survive it. This invasion will someday be a footnote in history.
This footnote will not be to highlight America's greatness or world leadership I fear.
