I was thinking along those lines...

I was thinking along the lines of cutting off the Republican guard, but I would be surprised if Sadam doesn't have them surrounding his position: Probably under a Mosque in Suburban Baghadad or in a grade school where child-hostages are being kept from their parents to insure that Sadam has a bargining chip.

I do like the idea of hooking up with anti-Sadam factions within Iraq. I'm sure a lot of that will go on, and one would think that US special forces have been in Northern Iraq for a long enough time to train some sort of an army out of the Kurds and other anti-Sadam Factions.

I have a strong feeling that Sadam is not as entrenched as he thinks...He may have been lulled to sleep by the difficulty the US has had supposedly finding Usama Bin Ladin. (Just one of many reasons to keep Osama's demise a secret). But Hussain isn't nearly as stealthy as Bin Ladin (he travels with to large a protection team), and there are many in Iraq who would love to give up his position if they knew it.

Sadam may be one of the first casulties. I wonder how long the Republican Guard would hold out if Sadam were killed on the first night of bombing.
