How about the fact that government is now routinely spending spending over $3 trillion a year? That deficits are still routinely over $1 trillion? Is it that important in that context if the next budget is $3.1 trillion instead of $3.2? The CBO predicts it being over $5 trillion in ten years.
We're not supposed to notice that the "emergency funding" of 2009 (a budget Obama signed, by the way) is now permanent. These levels, steadily increasing, go on as far as the eye can see. Compare "baseline" numbers to Obama's numbers -here-.
When Clinton left office at the end of 2000, the Federal Budget had just cracked $2 trillion. If we had that same budget right now, a budget that obviously worked for running the nation, we'd be $50 billion in surplus (adjusted for inflation).
The system is running away, no matter how you cook the numbers. To hell with the rate of increases. We need decreases.

So, it's all about the "growth?" What about the actual amount?
