It's not about smaller government, "family values", which they seem to have abandoned, it's not about lower taxes, it's not about defense.
It's about power and transferring more wealth to the wealthy. The rest is simply "feelgood", stuff folks think sound good. Those have no more substance to them than Ronald Reagan had, a feelgood, sound good personality also interested in transferring wealth to the wealthy.
They want to take money from social spending to transfer it to the wealthy. They want money for defense because those profits go to the wealthy and the DoD is used to protect the interests of the wealthy.
Watch what GWB did, not what he said, but what he did and you'll see the real Conservative agenda. Could give a rip less about debt.
