However, it *would* be funny to watch carter try to deal with extreemism- but probably not as painful as watching Bush and company stumble around.

Carter did try to deal with extremism in Cuba (painful to watch at times). I read that after Carter's visit, Castro re-inforced socialism in 'his' constitution.
Basically, for an outsider to rule would be the wrong choice.
